Are you thinking about investing in Real Estate?  This is a great time to do it.  Many people who have been displace either through Short Sale or Foreclosure need affordable places to live.  With prices down anywhere from 35 to 50% in most markets, what better time could there be to buy investment property?

Yes, there are a lot of rentals in our marketplace here in the White Mountains, but many of them are people who have hit some hard times as a result of the bad economy and are trying to find a way to keep their mortgage payments made until they can get back on their feet.

If you are looking for income, real estate can make a great investment.  Purchased at the right price rental income can be very profitable.  Add to that the number of Spec homes that are on the market from builders who were hurt in the downturn and what could be a better way to get a nice home than to buy a new home in a subdivision and use it as a rental?  That is what many of the big builders are doing now.  Instead of building homes, they are buying up specs in new home subdivisions and using them as rental income properties.  It keeps them going until the economy turns around so they can start building again, and it gets the excess inventory out of the marketplace so that can happen more quickly.

Right now buying an existing new home as an investment is a better value than building.  It's a great way to help the Real Estate market recover and it gives the buyer a source of income.  Look around, are there places in your area where this might be a viable option to building a new home?  If so, get moving, it's a great time to buy investment property.
