Good Afternoon Everyone,

Well it happened, I missed an appointment, something I never ever do.  I was so upset with myself I could have crawled in a hole and pulled it in after me.  All turned out well but that is the trouble with computers.

Computers are wonderful tools.  I could not function in my business without one since practically everything I do in relation to the Real Estate Business is online.  That is all well and good until something happens to them.

That is exactly what happened to me last weekend.  My computer had been slowing down so I knew it was going to crash, I just knew it.  But like all human beings I put off doing anything about it thinking it would just keep on working.  In the meantime though I did start to back things off and put them on another computer so I wouldn't lose all my data.

I was actually pretty successful.  I got the important stuff off and backed up so I wouldn't lose the most important information with the idea that I would take it in on Monday for a tune up.  I forgot one thing though, my calendar & schedule.

Well, it went down, just like I knew it was going to and me without having backed up my PDA.  So guess what, I missed an appointment.  The day of the appointment something kept nagging at the back of my brain all day saying I was forgetting something.  Getting older has it's benefits but a better memory isn't one of them.  About midway through the day the light bulb went on and I remembered the appointment.  Unfortunately I was about six hours too late for it.  Fortunately my client wasn't too upset and it all worked out, but it sure upset me.  I am so terminally detail oriented about things that something like that will send me in a tail spin in a hurry.

As for the computer, yes I got it to the shop and it had "bugs" just what I figured.  When I asked the tech about it she said all the virus protections in the world will not keep them out.  Many are so small that it takes many of them to build up over time and affect the system.  It is a fact of life if your life happens to be spent working on a computer as mine is.  So, as soon as that one comes back the second one goes in for it's annual clean-out.  I sometimes admit, I long for the days of doing things by hand, then all I had to worry about was losing a piece of paper.  Today I could lose my mind since it is contained in multiple electronic devices that are prone to fail at the worst of times.

Have a wonderful week, until next time....
