Good Afternoon,
What a gorgeous day in the White Mountains. About 70 degrees, a nice breeze, and it finally really feels like Spring.
Our season is a little late this year after such a hard winter. The Hyacinths and the Forsythia are just starting to come out. The Lilac bushes are starting to bud but the Oak trees are still hiding. The old timers say you can't fool the Oak so guess we aren't through with ol' man winter yet.
We spent the day out raking the back yard and cleaning out the flower beds in preparation for our Spring planting. It is a little early yet to put out annuals, we aren't done with cold nights. About the only thing that would grow are Pansy's and they don't like it at all once it starts getting warm so I always feel it is a bit of a waste to put them in only to have them die as soon as it starts to get warm. It won't be long now.
All our neighbors had a case of Spring Fever today too. They were out doing their Spring cleanup too. After this winter there is much to do. We still have branches in our trees that need to be cut out that broke down from the weight of the big snow in January. We found a few more today. What a shame, those big trees took a lot but some of those branches just couldn't take the weight.
Oh well, onward and forward in to the Spring. We are ready for you to start venturing up our way and if you are in the market to buy, this is the year to do so. Prices have fallen significantly and I do believe we have hit the bottom. In some area prices are already starting to creep up and when a few properties sell this year that are not Bank Owned that is really going to help the appreciation index for properties in our area.
The employment situation is improving up here too. You won't know it by reading the paper but there are help wanted signs in a lot of windows. Companies are beginning to have a little faith that the economy is improving and are willing to take on some extra help at least for the summer season.
Have a wonderful weekend and make your plans to come to the mountain, I'm waiting for your calls.
